A Silhouette of Regret

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.

Today I’m sharing an old poem that I wrote back in 2006.  It was inspired by a decision that was made by one of my cousins.  I wanted to see if I could get into her heart and write down her feelings into words, but I wasn’t sure if I could show it to her if I succeeded because I didn’t want her to get mad at me.  When I finished it, I explained to her what it was and that I wasn’t judging her at all, just trying to see if that’s how she felt about what she had to do.  While she was reading it, tears came to her eyes and I was freaking out.  I wanted to snatch the paper away and say, “Forget it,” but I didn’t.  In my head I was thinking, “She’s going to stop talking to me.  I have absolutely no business writing about this.”   When she was done, I asked her if she was ok and what she thought.  She said that the poem was exactly how she felt some days and that she was indeed sad that she had to make that decision.  We were ok.  Phew!  With time my wonderful cousin has made a beautiful family, which I love so much!  They’re the greatest!

Of course abortion is a controversial, very touchy subject and people stay firm to what side they support.  Personally, I believe that women should have the right to make their own decisions regarding their own bodies and I’m just going to leave it at that.

Take good care all.

Until next time…
