Hello everybody! I hope you guys are well. I, on the other hand, am a basket FULL of emotions. I’m happy, sad, proud, worried and extremely scared. Why, you may ask? Well my beautiful daughter just went to her 1st day of Kindergarten. It was time for me to let her go into the real world and it was a daunting task to do. I know I have to relax and just let life happen naturally. But I also know that we live in a world that can be very, very cruel.
Yes, I’m a realist, but I’m going to do my best to focus on the positive and see the glass as “half full”. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
My daughter woke up excited. I made her breakfast, one of her favorites: chocolate chip pancakes with a side of sliced apples. We put her uniform on, took pictures, and started our walk to school. She, understandably, became heavy footed as we got closer to school. I told her everything was going to be ok. We were met with chaos, of course, at the entrance of the school’s cafeteria, but we were able to enter and find her class and teacher. Then I looked at my daughter’s face and it was covered in pure sadness. I hugged and kissed her. I did my very best to put on a brave face, but honestly we were both on the verge of tears. I reassured her that things were going to be ok, that she was a brave little girl, and that I was going to be there to pick her up, always. I left her with the teacher and the other kids, looked at her one more time and mouthed “It’s ok,” turned around and left the building. As soon as I saw my husband, who was outside with our two-year old daughter, I started to BAWL. He hugged me and we walked home discussing how difficult, but necessary this new journey was, for all of us. Good luck and may you learn a lot my sweet, little but brave girl.
Until next time…
Good luck my love! I’ll be thinking about you everyday!
Thank you Auntie!
I just had to do the same thing with my son. I think it’s harder on us than it is on them!
You’re right. It is definitely harder on us emotionally. My daughter told me she had a great time. That made me happy. I was on pins and needles at home waiting for pick up time to arrive. 🙂
