DIY VALENTINE DECORATIONS

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  I love decorating for Valentine’s Day especially for my girls.  They love seeing all the hearts and pastel colors sprucing up our home.

Using my heart puncher, I like taping hearts in various places like my china cabinet, the TV unit, the door, etc.  My daughters always seem to find all the little decorations I put up.  It’s like a game for them and I love seeing their smiles when they discover hearts here and there.

I love decorating with banners and I made these two last year using felt and my heart puncher.

I purchased purple, hot pink, light, pink, and glitter red felt in order to do my banners.

I cut out the triangles (freehand) and then sewed them together right at the corner.  For the heart banner, the glitter red felt was a bit thicker and I was able to punch out hearts and string them together.

I put the pennant banner outside my doorway with this cute little guy declaring his love for you!

I decorated my picture shelf in my living room with the heart banner.  I want to make a couple more and overlap them, but I ran out of the glitter red felt so it’s off to the craft store.  Yippee!

Take good care all.

Winnie the Pooh Quotes

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  Every time I come across a Winnie the Pooh quote I simply fall in love with it.  They’re simple words that can emit so much emotion.  Here are three quotes that I absolutely want to display in my house soon.

The third one is my favorite.  Whenever I read it, it makes me want to cry at first because it’s so heartbreaking, but then it makes me smile because it’s so sentimental.

Take good care all.

First snowfall of 2013

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  We had our first, quick snowfall of the year in Brooklyn, NY this past Friday night onto Saturday morning.  It was a semi-thin blanket of snow, but once it was shoveled to the side there was enough to play with for about a day.  My oldest daughter, who loves snow, couldn’t wait to go outside.  You could see the anticipation on her face.  She kept looking out the window and going on and on that we had to hurry before the snow melted.  She was very worried!  🙂

As soon as we were all bundled up, we made our way downstairs and the fun started:

I love how a little bit of snow brings such sheer happiness to Olivia.  She kept picking up the snow, which was still soft, and throwing it up in the air.  Can you imagine if we lived somewhere where it snowed more?  I think she would simply burst.  Sophia likes the snow as well, but she starts focusing on her gloves and trying to take them off.

If it’s snowing where you live and you love the snow, happy snow day.  If you simply despise it, my regards.

Take good care all.

Chicken Wrap

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.

My husband came up with this quick and easy chicken wrap.  We had for dinner, but of course you can eat it whenever you like it.

IMG_3832text

We used Tyson’s Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Strips, Mission Carb Balance Flour Tortillas, Light Sour Cream, peppers (red, green, and orange), and Mushrooms.

My husband grilled the mushrooms and peppers on the stove top while the strips baked in the oven.

Assemble your wrap (I only wanted peppers and sour cream)…

…and bon appétit.

Take good care all.

100th Post…Wow!

Hello everybody!  I really hope you guys are well.  I would like to say THANK YOU for following my blog and WELCOME to my new followers.  I am in disbelief whenever I receive an email indicating that I have a new follower.  It makes me wonder so much what made that particular person want to follow my blog.  It’s such a mystery and it’s also scary because I want to make sure that my words, thoughts, ideas, and images don’t bore you to death.  Every LIKE that I get I want to sincerely say thank you for your time and if you can let me know what you think.  I would love to read any comments you might have.

I am still learning about this magnificent blogging world.  Some days I wonder, “What should I share with you?  What is interesting?  What is not?  How personal should I get?  Will they get sick of Pinterest?  (I really hope not!)  Will my daughters be mad at me in the future when they see the pictures I’ve posted of them?”

I follow several blogs and some of them are very open while others I have no clue what the blogger looks like.  I am known in my family to shy away from taking pictures even though I do want to be in them.  It’s just that I feel I’m not as photogenic as some people are and this awkwardness enters me and I can never find a natural pose.  Many people say, “practice in the mirror,” but I just feel silly doing that.

Anyway, I wanted to put myself out there and this is really hard for me.  I know that I’ve shared a picture before, but this is just me.  Alone.  For my 100th post, I wanted to say HI! and that I hope we can continue to share interesting ideas, thoughts, images, and experiences for a very long time.

Random photos

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  Here’s an update on how we’re feeling:  My daughter and I are still coughing, but that’s about it, my hubby tried his hardest to dodge the germs we sneezed and coughed his way (not intentionally), but he didn’t prevail (he’s coughing now and his throat is sore, POOR BABY!) and my youngest is still sick free.  We’re crossing our fingers that she stays that way.  Here’s a few random photos I’d like to share with you:

I went to Target (my other home) and fell in love with this aqua basket.  The price was reasonable and I want to start bringing in some color into my home.  I’m planning on getting a beautiful yellow hand blown vase next week.  I completely forgot to take a picture of it, but it’s gorgeous as well.  Pops of color are nice in your home especially if you can’t paint your walls like me.

I received my art print titled “Dear Parents At Sandy Hook” by Jeremy Collins.  I purchased a brown frame for it and placed it near my working space.  The image is striking and emits such sadness.  An unfortunate reminder that someone can just change your life forever without caring.

These are photos taken by my cousin Janice, who lives in Huntsville, Alabama.  She snapped a picture of these two beauties right outside her house.  Absolutely amazing and my cuz is a great photographer.

So little by little, I’m cleaning and making my home as ideal as it can be in my mind.  I do things one section at a time.  I want it clutter free and currently my best friend is the paper shredder.  I’m tackling my filing cabinet and folders.  I know that one day it’s going to be just the way I want it to be and then, just like that, we’ll be moving into our first home, hopefully, starting the madness process once again. 🙂

Take good care all.

Chicken Pot Pie Cupcakes/Muffins

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  We had a long, lazy weekend that was spent resting and recovering from being sick.  It was great to snuggle up in my bed and watch some TV while my daughters played in the living room and my husband watched them.  Oh, did I mention that he also cooked our meals as well?  My husband is a great man and father (I know, my gushing is too much and you’re probably fake heaving, but I need to give my man a BIG SHOUT OUT).  He’s absolutely wonderful and a superb chef!  That’s why I wasn’t surprised when he was able to recreate a recipe pin that only had pictures with the ingredients.  I came across this pin (www.pinterest.com) right before my husband was going to the supermarket.  I showed it to him and he took a mental note of the ingredients and off he went.

With the exception of the cheese from the above pin, my husband made these mini chicken pot pies.

IMG_3815text

They looked amazing and tasted so good.  You should all give it a try if you like pot pies.

My husband simply cooked the chicken, then mixed it with the cream of chicken soup and vegetables, turned the oven on to 375 degrees, placed the biscuits into the cupcake pan, poured mixture in and on top of the biscuits, and baked for 20 minutes.  Enjoy!

Take good care.

Remembering and honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.

Here are a few great pins (www.pinterest.com) of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Today we remember and honor his legacy.

I cannot wait to take my children and see this statue in person.   It’s absolutely breath-taking in pictures so I know it’s going to be magnificent in real life!  I’m going to take a million pictures and we’ll be here for a while just taking it all in.

Take good care all.

We’re under attack…

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  Yesterday, I woke up coughing my lungs out, nauseated, dizzy as heck, and last with a lovely fever.  With the help of meds, bed rest, and my wonderful husband stepping in and taking care of our daughters, today I woke up just fine.  Just like that, I felt ok.  It was as if yesterday morning never happen, like it was all a dream nightmare.  Needless to say, I’m very happy to be almost well because I hadn’t felt that crappy in a very long time and I wanted it to be over as soon as possible.  Unfortunately, I got a phone call at noon today from my daughter’s school informing me that my daughter had thrown up and wasn’t feeling well.  We’re seriously under attack.  Thirty minutes later, I was tucking my feverish daughter into her bed after washing her up and giving her medicine.  What a couple of sickly days!

Proof to my husband that my fever went down.

My favorite cough drops…thanks hubby!

My landlady/family friend brought a plate of food that she made for us sick people.

White rice, side salad, and chicken.  It was such a wonderful and yummy surprise.  Thanks Georgina!

After resting, Olivia got inspired by the photo of her mami and daddy on her wall and decided to draw it!

She’s such an artist!  Love her greatly and she’s doing a whole lot better.

So far my husband and my youngest are sick free and I REALLY hope it stays that way.  We’re on the mend and I wish everyone else who’s not feeling well, a speedy recovery and try to sleep as much as you can because it really does make it difference in how you feel one day from another.

Take good care.

Until next time…

My streak is over…

Hello everybody!  I hope you guys are well.  I was so proud of my streak (about 3 years!) of not getting sick and that’s with two kids under 6 years old in my household, but alas it’s over.  I’m currently battling a major sore throat.

174725660514868179_KBe3QrvZ_c

I went on Pinterest, I know I’m completely hooked on this site, to see if there was some home remedies I could try and found this pin above.  It’s funny and oh so freaking true.  Many pins suggested eating spoonfuls of honey, drinking tea with lemon, drinking warm water, gargling with salted, warm water, and lots of sleep.  The only one I like is the last one.  Once I’m better I hope to start my streak once again and this time I’m aiming for four years and more.  If you’re not feeling well today, GET WELL SOON.

Take good care.

Until next time…
